Breezeway Motel Customer Appreciation Day on Topsail Beach

Warm breezes with a sunny day set the tone of our wonderful customer appreciation day here on Topsail Beach. We held a cook out and the food was gooood! We had wonderful entertainment with Rob Ronner performing and we held a cornhole board tournament which turned out to be some tough competitors. We were full to capacity and just enjoyed sharing the weekend with all our terrific guests. Lots of good fishing off the pier.

We had first, second and third place prizes for the tournament and all of our contestants really were good!

Our third place winners also enjoyed fishing on the pier. Eric Biles & Kevin Bowers

Fishing is great on Topsail Beach, NC

Jason Childress caught a 7 1/2 lb. Red Drum while fishing on Topsail Beach. Jason and his wife are staying with us at the Breezeway Motel and have been enjoying some good fishing. They’ve been catching bass, mullet, black & red drum, pigfish and more. This red drum was caught off the Jolly Roger Pier while night fishing using shrimp. Topsail Beach fishing is starting off great! Weather is great with 82 degree’s and the sun is shining bright!

Fishing on Breezeway Motel Pier on Topsail Beach

The first flounder for our pier was caught today. He was only 14 inches so he had to go back to the water for a while longer but they have arrived and are biting. They are catching trout, blues, puffers, pinfish, pigfish and flounder on our Breezeway Pier so grab the shrimp and plugs and come on down to Topsail Beach.

Topsail Crafts Plunder Days will start on Thursday June 6th, 2013 on Topsail Beach, NC.

Every Thursday June – August Topsail Crafts will offer you the opportunity to pillage through the plunder at Plunder Days. Local Artist and businesses will offer their wares for sale to Topsail Island visitors. For more details you may visit www.facebook.com/topsailcrafts

North Carolina Blueberry Festival

The North Carolina Blueberry Festival is Burgaw’s annual community celebration. Founded in 2004, the Blueberry Festival has become Burgaw’s premier event.

Held on the third Saturday in June, the Blueberry Festival provides an opportunity for people to enjoy a full day of family entertainment while experiencing the southern hospitality of a small town.

More than 30,000 people are estimated to attend the annual one day event.

The Festival is a great source of local pride, with the entire community involved in promoting Burgaw to the world in its finest shade of blue. More than 100 volunteers are required to stage over 20 events ranging from entertainment to car show, a street fair, recipe contest, barbeque cook-off, a 5K run, special exhibits, and a variety of other events.

At the North Carolina Blueberry Festival, we’re certain you’ll find something for the entire family. Come join us!

Fishing on Topsail Island, NC

Fishing report this week is getting more active. Warmer temperatures and sunny skies on tap for this weekend make it the perfect time to bring out the poles. All of the piers are catching sea mullet, pig fish, black drum, snapper blues and a few chopper blues on live bait. The big news is the first spots were caught Monday!

Inside waters are still having a lively bite of speckled trout on pink Betts Halo-shad and also Mirrolures. There’s been a few red drum caught in the same creeks and a few flounder have begun to bite.

On our pier we have chopper blues, puffers and pinfish. Call and book your fishing weekend today!

Happenings at Breezeway Motel on Topsail Island, NC

We have a beautiful weekend on tap. It’s 70 and in the low 70′s. There’s also some fun events coming up this weekend and next. Thought I’d share them with you in case you want to come down and share the fun and of course stay with us!
Fish are biting to. Had the first Spots caught on Monday. The piers are catching sea mullet, pig fish, black drum, snapper & chopper blues. Inside waters have a lively bite of speckled trout being caught on pink Betts Halo-Shad. A few flounder have begun to bite as well. On our pier we still have the blow fish, pinfish and blues biting. Stone crabs have moved in the crab pot our guest have put out.
Lots of folks riding bikes. We’ve had a couple of guests with canoes stay with us this week. They’ve enjoyed exploring all the hidden coves in the sound. That seems it would be a lot of fun but I don’t swim and I just see me in the middle of the sound splashing around and screaming for all I’m worth…lol
Here’s a couple of events for you to consider visiting.

HOPS of Spring Beer Festival

The official Beer Festival of the Topsail Region! Bring your blankets or lawn chairs to kick back and enjoy the afternoon with music and craft beer samples. The evening before, you can participate in the 5K & 10K Beer Run. Tasters and beer purchasers must be 21 or over. Takes place on the island in Surf City. Hosted by The Greater Topsail Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism.
